Prophetic Scheduling

Updated: May 16, 2022

It seems like we are all in a race against time to accomplish as much as we can. But why does it seem like we always don’t have enough time to do everything we set out to do? We are always pursuing, yet it seems like we are the slaves to the limitation of time. I would like to present a reality that time should be our servant, meant to serve us during our life on earth. Time should not be our master, instead, it should be our servant to help us accomplish everything that God has placed inside the heart of man. Just like how money and resources should not be our master, but a servant to help us accomplish what God has placed in our hearts to do. I would like to propose this reality that we have all the time in the world to accomplish everything that God has destined us to become and do here on earth. Before the finished work of the cross, time might have been our master we were enslaved to, but on this side of the cross, it no longer holds that power over us. Colossians 2:15 says, having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. Jesus’s work through the cross empowers us to live victorious and empowered lives no longer held back in bondage to the world forces of this world.

Chronos vs Kairos

There are two aspects of time mentioned in the scriptures from the Greek words, Chronos and Kairos. Both words are nouns which shows that they are some personified entity. Chronos speaks of linear time and Kairos speaks of divine opportune time. As sons and daughters of God in the new covenant, we are no longer held as slaves to Chronos time. Jesus has conquered time by the work of Christ and we are no longer slaves to the spiritual entities, principalities, and spiritual forces of this world Ephesians 6:12, Romans 8:38. Colossians 1:16 says, For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Everything was created through Jesus and for Jesus, and as his living body here on earth this reality is effective towards us too.

So if time no longer carries mastery over us what does that mean for us to be followers of Christ? And how does this reality connect with the prophetic or the revelatory realm? The revelatory gifts mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11, which include prophecy, words of knowledge, words of wisdom, and discerning of spirits enable us to relationally connect with the person of the Holy Spirit. The person of the Holy Spirit was there with God before the foundations of the world, before sin came into the world. I see sin as a false identity formed through the interaction and the deception of the devil. So when Adam and Eve heeded the lies of the devil they gave away their authority to rule in exchange for sin which caused them to live a false identity of disconnection. So if we ever want to discover who we are in God and our true identity and destiny, then we must have an intimate and close relationship with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit enables us to live a supernaturally empowered life and our divine nature in God 2 Peter 1:4. Ephesians 5:16 and Colossians 4:5, say that we can redeem the time or in other translations, it says we can take advantage of every opportunity that comes our way. Friendship with the Holy Spirit enables us to operate in Kairos time, which is the opportune time. Where things that normally can take years to do can literally happen overnight. We see this reality in scripture, can a nation be birthed in a day? Yes, it can! Isaiah 66:8. God’s voice enables us to live above the systems and bondages of this world into the supernatural realm of productivity and multiplication.

There have been so many times when I simply obeyed the voice of the Holy Spirit, which brought about such incredible productivity within such a short time or would have taken years to do through Chronos time. We are God’s workmanship created to do good works that were prepared beforehand Ephesians 2:10. The Holy Spirit enables us to walk in Kairos time, a divine time when we follow the leading of His voice. This is why the spirit of religion is so terrible because it replaces our need for an interactive relationship with God for dead principles that lead to counterfeit righteousness. The Holy Spirit enables us to have the mind of Christ, where we can begin to think God's thoughts and see from His infinite perspective. But oftentimes it just requires us to ask the right questions on our end.

If we know Chronos time is no longer our master, we can now begin to practice what I call prophetic scheduling. Because the Holy Spirit has access to every time zone - past, present, and future. We can also dialogue with the Holy Spirit to tap into His divine timing for our lives. This requires us to unlearn how we’ve lived life up to this point especially if we heavily leaned on IQ, logical reasoning or EQ, emotional intelligence. As believers of Jesus, we need to lean on what the Spirit is constantly saying, even when it doesn’t seem reasonable or oftentimes foolish. What I have learned over the years when I follow the leading of the Spirit, is that I am never disappointed. And I often end up doing more than I could ever imagine or dream of. The Spirit guides us into all truth John 16:13, He guides us into a lifestyle that consistently redeems the time and makes the most of every opportunity 1 Corinthians 2:16.

Prophetic Scheduling

On the practical level, what does prophetic scheduling look like? Well for me it looks like sitting down with the Lord once a year to dream with Him what is the overarching theme He is doing that coming year. Once I have a theme, I can begin to lay down everything I am currently doing from the previous year (ministry, leadership, work, relationships, etc…). Then I begin a dialogue with the Holy Spirit to see where is still moving and what things I need to let go of. For example for 2022, I felt the overarching prophetic theme for my life was to learn new skills and refine ones that I already have. By knowing my overarching theme for the year, I am then able to get rid of some things that Holy Spirit is no longer breathing on. I have learned that I only want to be doing what the Father is doing, what the Holy Spirit is doing, to walk where Jesus is walking John 5:19, Psalms 65:11. There have been so many times when I kept doing something because I thought there was fruit, but in reality, God had already moved on from that project. Instead, I want to be like Philip in Acts 8:26-39, where he was seeing a revival in the city, but an angelic being told him to go to the dessert. Instead of using his understanding he simply obeyed and ends up finding an Ethiopian Eunuch with whom he shares the gospel and baptizes. If many were in Philip’s scenario we would have just stayed where we were seeing fruit and response to the gospel, but for Philip, he yielded to the voice of God through the angel. We need to learn to carve out space in our time to sit down and prophetically schedule with the Holy Spirit.

After we got the overarching yearly schedule down, we can begin to sit with the Lord before each month. I love to ask Holy Spirit if there is anyone specifically He is highlighting for me to do each month so that I can focus my time to do what He shows me. There are times when I am planning and creating a schedule for the month when the Spirit will tell me to be intentional to schedule time with my children. And in those moments He would reveal some things He roughly wanted me to do during those times. Last but not least, I love to daily sit with the Holy Spirit for my schedule of the day. For example, when I know that specific month when He put it in my heart to spend intentional time with my boys, I would spend some time in the morning to see what specific thing he wanted me to do with my boys. There was one instance when he put it on my heart to go hiking with my older son, and I just knew in my heart that God wanted me to share with my son about wind. So while we were hiking, suddenly I just knew it was the moment to share with my son the importance of the wind. And I recalled the scripture in John 3:8, “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” So I asked my boy do you see the trees, how something is moving them back and forth? And he responds, yes daddy I see it. And so I shared with him that the Holy Spirit is that wind that blows, and He will speak to you and move you to do things. And after the conversation, I just knew he caught something that day.

Another instance of prophetic scheduling is when things don’t go the way you planned them. Proverbs 16:9 says, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.” We need to do our part to step out to plan and create a pathway, but we always hold it lightly because we give the Holy Spirit reigns in our lives to direct us on how to get there. There was a day when I had a prophetic consulting session set in my appointment, but suddenly that morning they canceled. But I felt the Holy Spirit tell me, “It’s ok, I did that and there is someone else I want you to consult today!”. And within moments after the appointment was canceled someone reached out to me in urgency to see if I had time available in the afternoon that day to do a prophetic consulting session with them. And it ended up being a powerful consulting session that helped someone navigate some workplace obstacles and empowered them to walk further along with their calling and destiny in the marketplace.

If you are in working in the marketplace, then spend 10-15 minutes starting your day imagining where you will be meeting that client or person. Allow yourself to engage the location in your imagination which will be like an anchor point of what you are leaning into. If it's a zoom meeting, then imagine yourself on the zoom call with the person you will meet later in the day. As you have that picture in your mind, allow yourself to imagine what types of topics and conversations you will be having, and pay attention to the interactions. Remember to take notes down of the time of divine imaging so you can refer back to them. What you are doing is you are stepping outside of time and space, and entering into the realm of the Spirit. I find that oftentimes in those moments of dreaming, and imagination with God; He reveals strategy, wisdom, and solutions that we could never come up with on our own. If you are in the marketplace, Holy Spirit will and desires to reveal to you how He wants you to present the service, sale, product, etc…that can connect with the person you are talking with John 16:13, 1 Corinthians 2:10. God cares about our work when we are centered on representing Him and advancing His Kingdom here on earth.

When we invite the Holy Spirit in our scheduling process we will see much more productivity and prosperity in our lives, work, and ministry. I believe it is not about just making more money, sales, or KPIs, but as believers, we are called to partner with God to bring heaven to earth. When we walk in prophetic scheduling we will see that you won’t need to strive or perform any longer, but you can simply walk into the good works that God predestined us to walk in Ephesians 2:10. Also If you want to receive a breakthrough and strategy for your life, ministry, or work feel free to book an individual prophetic consulting session with us. We would love to journey with you for you to take another step towards your calling and destiny! I pray that from this day forward, time will no longer take you as a captive, instead, I declare that you have all the time to accomplish everything you are designed to do. You are at the perfect age to pursue all that God has placed in your heart.
